TRIGGERED: Deadspin appalled by Pittsburgh Penguins’ display of racist Thin Blue Line flag after shooting

Deadspin owner Ted Cruz should really keep a closer eye on what’s being published at his sports website. Writer Lauren Theisen, for example, couldn’t comprehend why a Thin Blue Line flag would be displayed at a Pittsburgh Penguins game during a ceremony honoring the victims of the Tree of Life Synagogue shooting.

This was the event which triggered Deadspin:

Theisen writes:

For those who don’t know, “Blue Lives Matter” is an explicit reaction by law enforcement to the Black Lives Matter movement, which aims to end racial prejudice in policing. It’s a rallying cry used by some of the most empowered workers in America as propaganda against vulnerable people who are simply asking not to be killed or abused by state actors, and its endorsement by the Penguins is a gross slap in the face to some of their most marginalized fans.

Or maybe they displayed the flag because …

You guys don’t get it … that flag is racist.

From the replies, it seems most Deadspin readers found the display sickening and inappropriate. Huh.
