VP Mike Pence shares heartbreaking story from one of the hostages held in North Korea

Now that the three Americans held hostage in North Korea are home, we’re starting to learn a little more about the hellish conditions of their captivity. Via Vice President Mike Pence:

“One of the detainees asked to come out of the plane [in Alaska] because he hadn’t see daylight in a very long time,” VP Pence tells @jonkarl @GMA

Trump, however, praised Kim Jong-un for North Korea’s treatment of the Americans, saying “”We want to thank Kim Jong-un, who really was excellent to these three incredible people”:

What a difference a few weeks make. From ridicule of Kim Jong Un to praise: “We want to thank Kim Jong-un, who really was excellent to these three incredible people,” said @POTUS overnight on the tarmac at @JBA_NAFW. pic.twitter.com/gbpFbCXNDg

Otto Warmbier not available for comment, too:

Trump said Kim Jong Un “really was excellent to these people.”
They were hostages.
One was in hard labor.
One hadn’t seen daylight in a while, Pence said.
Really excellent. https://t.co/Aa35jBo8sI

Honestly, this is not usually how presidents of the United States talk about despots who took our citizens hostage, sent them to hard labor, then released them. “We want to thank Kim Jong Un who really was excellent to these three incredible people.”
