Resistance LETDOWN: New Yorker writer has a BIG Schneiderman buzzkill for anti-Trump conspiracy theorists

Former New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman stepped down from that job after it was reported that numerous women have accused him of physical abuse. Schneiderman, part of the #MeToo movement who participated in the Women’s March, was a fast-rising hero of the anti-Trump “Resistance.” Samantha Bee even likened him to a Democrat superhero. But Schneiderman’s cape wasn’t attached very well, and soon fell off.

The fall of Schneiderman brought with it accusations that he was somehow set up by the other side, but a writer for the magazine that broke the story (who co-wrote the story with Ronan Farrow) delivered some bad news to any Resistance warriors hoping that was the case:

Just to be clear: not one source for our story on Schneiderman has any ties to Trump or Michael Cohen. Our sources all are deeply opposed to Trump and deeply disappointed that Schneiderman let them and their Cause down.

So much for that conspiracy theory.

It’s absurd that this is something that needs to be said https://t.co/yiRWJIXatj

Right!?

Today in responding to left-wing conspiracy theories. https://t.co/RdMnjBWhTu

The fact so many people are trying to tie the Schneiderman accusations to Trump shows that many people still want to cover for a so called “good feminist guy” instead of holding someone for their alleged actions. https://t.co/0cneU5keJH

Sad trombone for the #Resistance. https://t.co/1FXDfTvDB1
