Samantha Bee issues half-a**ed apology but not to ‘Ted Cruz and all men’

We knew it was coming and to be honest, we didn’t expect much better. She’s a liberal. She hates Trump. She hates all Republican policies. So, meh:

. @iamsambee starts her show with an apology…but it was narrow….she said the following people don’t deserve an apology..

1. Ted Cruz and All Men

She concluded with: “Civility is just nice words. Maybe we should all worry a little bit more about the niceness of our actions”

Transcript via CNN:

“You know, a lot of people were offended and angry that I used an epithet to describe the president’s daughter and adviser last week. It is a word I have used on the show many times, hoping to reclaim it. This time, I used it as an insult. I crossed the line. I regret it and I do apologize for that. The problem is that many women have heard that word at the worst moments of their lives. A lot of them don’t want that word reclaimed. They want it gone, and I don’t blame them. I don’t want to inflict more pain on them. I want this show to be challenging and I want it to be honest, but I never intended it to hurt anyone, except Ted Cruz. Many men were also offended by my use of the word. I do not care about that. I hate that this distracted from more important issues. I hate that I did something to contribute to the nightmare of 24-hour news cycles that we’re all white-knuckling through. I should have known that a potty-mouthed insult would be inherently more interesting to them than juvenile immigration policy. I would do anything to help those kids. I hate that this distracted from them, so to them, I am also sorry. And look, if you are worried about the death of civility, don’t sweat it. I’m a comedian. People who hone their voices in basement bars while yelling back at drunk hecklers are definitely not paragons of civility. I am, I’m really sorry that I said that word, but you know what? Civility is just nice words. Maybe we should all worry a little bit more about the niceness of our actions. Ok. Thanks for listening.”

Note that she didn’t apologize for the incest part of her bit:

The I-called-someone-a-c*nt-on-TV feminist publicity tour is so lit.

Samantha Bee is really sorry that she read that pre-written line on her produced show last week.

Did Sam Bee and her genius writing team sit down and just go “Hey what’s the one way to make this situation worse?” Her apology was basically for journos who watch her show. It was the SNL of apologies

— Stephen Miller (@redsteeze) June 7, 2018

Sam Bee is basically a really horrible person straight to her core so now that’s settled and we can all move on.

So.. less an apology than a lecture. An apolecture?

Libs, however, LOVED IT:

You go, @iamsambee. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Every sane American should watch this. That would exclude anyone still supporting. Trump. his Administration, his spawn, his spawn’s In laws, the GOP Congress. & all other feral animals. @iamsambee is a queen. Bless her intelligible, eloquent, intentional words.

Now to the real question: What did advertisers think?

Despite several apologies for a recent controversy, advertisers seemed wary of appearing in this week’s broadcast of Samantha Bee’s “Full Frontal.” via @variety

We’ll find out shortly.

DUDE: Does Brian Stelter seriously think THIS is the word that started Samantha Bee’s controversy?
