‘UNBELIEVABLY cold-hearted’: This writer’s take on dying Charles Krauthammer is as ROTTEN as it gets

Apparently Oliver Willis’ condition is catching.

Upon learning that the conservative legend Dr. Charles Krauthammer has just a few weeks to live, self-described “National Magazine Award-winning ex-convict” Barrett Brown thought it would be a good time to re-up a 2009 piece on Krauthammer that he wrote for Vanity Fair, complete with a vile pronouncement:

Here’s a summary I wrote for Vanity Fair of Krauthammer’s ongoing failure, from 1998 on, to get a single thing right about the subject on which he was inexplicably deemed an “expert”. His impending death will make the world a safer, more competent place https://t.co/aUw1Xo17ja

Because God forbid some people put aside their petty politics for one damn second and remember how to act like a human being.

That is unbelievably cold hearted thing to say. As someone that leans more towards the Liberal side of things I did respect his opinions without agreeing with them. Spiking the ball over someone’s death is no way to garner a following for your ideas.

I don’t want a following for my ideas. I want people who understand the impact of our failures vis a vis the millions we kill abroad, and who set their priorities accordingly.

If your first priority when a man you disagree with is dying is to spit on his not-yet-dug grave, then you’re the one who needs to reset your priorities.

Your article was a fair criticism when it was published. Retweeting it years later with the caption “His impending death will make the world a safer, more competent place” is not only heartless but a surefire way for people to invalidate and dismiss anything you say.

“And I hope that you die, and your death will come soon. I’ll follow your casket on a pale afternoon. And I’ll watch while you’re lowered into your deathbed. And I’ll stand over your grave till I’m sure that you’re dead.” – Bob Dylan, Masters of War.

— Barrett Brown (@BarrettBrown_) June 8, 2018

You’re not Bob Dylan, Barrett. You’re just a bitter, miserable shell of a man.

Ok, have you ever heard the old saying , “ don’t kick a dog when he is down?” I mean, the guy is dying of cancer for god’s sake. Your momma must not have breastfed you long enough.

How dare you, I’m dying in a few weeks.

— Barrett Brown (@BarrettBrown_) June 8, 2018

What a garbage person.

Who are you?

— JWF (@JammieWF) June 8, 2018

Someone who cares more about the lives of Iraqis than the feelings of Americans.

— Barrett Brown (@BarrettBrown_) June 8, 2018

Sounds about right. But hey, at least more people will know who he is now. He’ll be famous at last. Just like Bob Dylan!

I have seen some super mean people but you take the cake.

Thanks.

— Barrett Brown (@BarrettBrown_) June 8, 2018

Go ahead and be proud of yourself, Barrett. If nothing else, your life will serve as an example on how not to be. In other words, you’re the complete opposite of Charles Krauthammer. And while you may take that as a compliment, Barrett, we can assure you: It’s not meant as one.

Someone else’s terminal illness prompts others to provide awful examples to avoid. https://t.co/ceH3n5qwXo

Jealousy and envy leaks out of every word you wrote. You would cut off your own foot and eat it for one quarter of his following and class. Clearly you care nothing for decency, so we won’t worry about that.
