Using Rachel Maddow’s own example with Trump and North Korea, Glenn Greenwald shows why Barack Obama was the REAL Putin puppet

It appears MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow own-goaled herself with a segment she did last night on President Trump and North Korea.

In summary, Maddow tied the Trump’s outreach to North Korea and the announced pause of military exercises to Russia and Vladimir Putin:

The segment has to be seen to be believed. MSNBC entitled it “Trump military exercise giveaway to N. Korea suits Putin’s goals.” The unbridled militarism & jingoism is surpassed only by the crazed conspiratorial mind. It should’ve been done on a blackboard https://t.co/8U0nPHqK6C https://t.co/tvW8cD2bXS

But what’s funny is that her own guests didn’t even buy into it with Eugene Robinson and Ian bremmer said that the summit was good news because it reduced global tensions:

Fortunately for viewers, they got some reality – from @Eugene_Robinson, who upset the MSNBC panel by explaining that this summit reduces global dangers: https://t.co/7WRCgwvlcp – and from @ianbremmer, who explained the same & was quickly dismissed: https://t.co/ZPmb33EU8I

The Daily Beast’s Marlow Stern then jumped in to defend Maddow’s conspiratorial nonsense:

I think she was referencing the WSJ piece from 5 months ago that reported Putin suggested halting the military exercises to Trump: https://t.co/0rDAICy2Oe

And this is when Greenwald, using Maddow’s own conspiracy theory, tied Obama’s inaction in Syria and Ukraine and his deal with Iran to Putin as well:

The fact that PUTIN wants something doesn’t mean he’s the puppet-master that makes it happen. Billions of people in the world and their governments want an end to the Korean War, US militarism in the region, and the dangerous isolation of N Korea – not just big bad PUTIN.

— Glenn Greenwald (@ggreenwald) June 13, 2018

I think it’s newsworthy that the WSJ, a right-wing publication, reported that Putin suggested this idea to Trump five months ago and it just happened.

— Marlow Stern (@MarlowNYC) June 13, 2018

Putin also favored a deal with Iran. Do you think that means that perhaps Obama was controlled by Putin? (Putin also wanted Obama to refrain from bombing Assad and refrain from sending lethal arms to Ukraine, and Obama did both of those, too! Hmmmmm).

— Glenn Greenwald (@ggreenwald) June 13, 2018

It’s newsworthy if a sanctioned dictator suggests a course of action to the president of the United States about another sanctioned dictator and then it happens some months later. Period.

— Marlow Stern (@MarlowNYC) June 13, 2018

OK – so could you answer the question I asked about Obama repeatedly following Putin’s wishes when it comes to various dictatorial countries? What do you believe that means?

— Glenn Greenwald (@ggreenwald) June 13, 2018

Going the whataboutism route on this topic is pretty ironic

— Marlow Stern (@MarlowNYC) June 13, 2018

The point is to test whether you really believe what you’re saying or are just a partisan hack making shit up to suit your agenda. That’s what “whataboutism” now means: https://t.co/hCfAtiHJaX

I see we’ve reached the part of the exchange where you start quote-tweeting yourself. Enjoy the rest of your day.

There’s no arguing with these folks. No matter what Trump does, it’s “RUSSIA RUSSIA RUSSIA!”
