AWKWARD: James Comey ‘respects’ IG findings, but here’s a tweet that did NOT age well

A new report from the DOJ’s Office of the Inspector General is damning when it comes to Peter Strzok and Lisa Page’s texts, not to mention James Comey’s leadership of the bureau during the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email:

SCOOP: Inspector general report says Comey damaged “the perception of the FBI and the department as fair administrators of justice.”

Story here, and more to come, from @cstrohm

IG found that on numerous occasions, COMEY used a personal GMail account to conduct official FBI business, according to source briefed on the report.

BREAKING NEWS: Justice Dept. inspector general releases report on FBI’s handling of Hillary Clinton email case; Comey found ‘insubordinate’.; Catherine Herridge has the latest – Part 1.

Former FBI Director James Comey sent this tweet not long ago:

I respect the DOJ IG office, which is why I urged them to do this review. The conclusions are reasonable, even though I disagree with some. People of good faith can see an unprecedented situation differently. I pray no Director faces it again. Thanks to IG’s people for hard work.

— James Comey (@Comey) June 14, 2018

However, after the IG report slammed his performance during the investigation, one of Comey’s previous tweets from less than a month ago is making the rounds again:

Dangerous time when our country is led by those who will lie about anything, backed by those who will believe anything, based on information from media sources that will say anything. Americans must break out of that bubble and seek truth.

— James Comey (@Comey) May 23, 2018

Comey’s rhetoric doesn’t sound quite as high horse now that the IG report is out:

This aged well, goofball. 😃

You let Hillary violate numerous classified rules and lied.

Comey might just want to sit this one out from here on in.
